We are proud to have a staff and board who dedicate themselves to our mission of fostering successful lives by empowering youth to make responsible choices and adopt healthy behaviors.

Staff

Tammie Carter

Chief Executive Officer

Tammie began her career in the corporate sector at Duke Energy where she worked in Employee Relations Safety & Training, Community Affairs, Public Strategies, and Supplier Diversity roles. The last 15 years of her career have been spent in the not-for-profit sector, having served as Sr. Vice President of Public Strategies for The Indy Chamber and President & CEO of TeenWorks. Tammie is also a small business owner of Accent Interior Designs. Tammie has served on numerous boards including The Indianapolis Urban League, The Mayor’s Crime Prevention Taskforce, Tangram, Indiana INTERNnet, The Indianapolis Legal Foundation, and The Indianapolis Cultural Trail. Tammie has been recognized for her accomplishments by the YMCA, National Council of 100 Black Women, and the Governor of Ohio for her work in Supplier Diversity.

Angela Bridge, CHES, CFRM

Director of Development

Angela became a LifeSmart Youth of Indiana staff member in 2011; however, she has been involved with the agency since 1998 through board membership, volunteerism and through contractual work. As the Director of Development, Angela oversees all aspects of securing resources to support LifeSmart Youth’s valuable mission and programs. She leads and manages grants, individual donor relations, corporate sponsors, and special events. Angela earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in Health Science and is a Certified Community Health Education Specialist. She earned her Certificate in Fund Raising Management from The Fund Raising School at Indiana University.

Maria Cheeseman

Manager, Scheduling and Client Relations

Maria graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Public Affairs Management, a concentration in Nonprofit Management, and a French minor. She has applied her diverse skill set to non-profit work, youth health and education, and the staffing industry. Prior to joining LifeSmart Youth in July 2017, Maria’s passion for youth led her to serve with AmeriCorps Public Allies of Indianapolis at the Indiana Youth Group as a Case Manager and Youth Resource Coordinator. She also serves as a member of the Indianapolis Symphonic Orchestra Association.

Minette Kamara, MJ, LMHC, CYC-P

Director of Programs and Evaluation

Minette joined the LifeSmart Youth team in 2022. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and has her Master of Jurisprudence from Loyola University Law School in Chicago. Minette has spent most of her professional career working in the nonprofit sector operating in various roles, but with a focus on working with children and adults with complex trauma and survivors of crime. In addition, Minette has also worked as a Quality Assurance and Licensing Manager for a foster care agency. Minette is a certified conflict resolution specialist and a domestic mediator. Her passion for education, equity and racial justice comes from being an Immigrant coming to the United States at the age of nine due to a Rebel War in her country. Minette is the founder of Pearls of Wisdom, an organization based in Sierra Leone (her birthplace) focusing on the mental health of girls who have been exposed to sexual violence and implementing a transformative and restorative justice model for rural communities.
