Congratulations to Janet Kamiri and Paula French for being recognized by their peers as this year’s outstanding employees!
At an event on February 4, 2015, Janet received the Sheila Kanaby Award for Excellence in Service, recognizing her service as a full-time staff member. This award was named after Sheila Kanaby to recognize traits that marked her many successful years as staff at Social Health Association – hard working, innovative, wise, and passionate about youth health programs. In Janet’s nomination, her peers described her as a leader who finds joy and fulfillment in her work, who is always upbeat and likes to share ideas from her teaching adventures, and who communicates thoughtfully and honestly. Janet also was recently honored by the Society of Public Health Educators as one of the top 30 Health Educators under the age of thirty in the nation.
Paula received the inaugural Cornelius White Award for Commitment to Kids to recognize part-time staff members. This award honors “Corny White,” who has been teaching after-school programs for 13 years. Paula was recognized for her knowledge and perspective when it comes time to working with youth and a willingness to share the knowledge with others. Her peers commented that she continuously has a positive upbeat attitude, commitment to improving the lives of the students, and helps with tasks outside of her job duties.
