CEO Tammie Carter speaking with Fox 59 Morning News host Lindy Thackston

April is Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Join Tammie Carter, CEO of LifeSmart Youth, as she shares data and program information on Body Safety with Fox 59 Morning News host Lindy Thackston.

  • 1 in every 4 girls is sexually abused.
  • 1 in every 6 boys is sexually abused.
  • 1 in 5 children are solicited sexually while on the internet.

The numbers are shocking, and it is important to know many cases go unreported, and young victims may not even know to call their victimization sexual abuse.

In response to this crisis, LifeSmart Youth has added body safety program delivery for youth in K-8th grades, which meets the state code for child sexual abuse prevention education programs in Indiana. Indiana Code Senate Enrolled Act 295 updated an existing law (IC 20-30-5-5.7), which requires our public schools, charter schools, and accredited nonpublic schools to provide annual research-based instruction on child abuse and child sexual abuse for all students K-12.
