For the past three years, LifeSmart Youth has had the honor of partnering with IPS Lew Wallace School 107 for the Eli Lilly and Company Global Day of Service. With growing support from Lilly, in 2020 we were able to expand our partnership to serve Newcomer Program, Lew Wallace School 107, and Northwest Community Middle!
Across these three IPS partner schools, students:
- Speak more than 31 languages natively
- Hail from more than 24 countries
In an effort to keep students, teachers, and volunteers safe, Lilly employees filmed videos of themselves reading stories in different languages. These stories featured diverse characters and plots in order to provide students with the comfort of hearing tales that reflect their own heritage. LifeSmart Youth also coordinated with Lilly and IPS to purchase books for the schools to share with students, so they can read on their own or with their caregivers.
